Closing as superseded by canonical #262 at exact head b72a62d9fb4e2597d3989d9b6d421aaf4ca38231. This branch's role="status" behavior and targeted intent are fully contained there, together with the decorative icon, scoped aria-hidden, layout alignment, and an exact-fragment regression test. Consolidation prevents duplicate conflict repair and repeated CI.
